Lens from France complicated their participation in the 2023/2024 UEFA Champions League, after losing 1-0 this Wednesday on their visit to PSV Eindhoven, on the fourth day of group B.
Luuk de Jong’s solitary goal, in the 12th minute of the match, was enough for the Dutch team to displace Lens from second place in the standings. Thus, the team where the Colombian Déiver Machado plays came third and their hope of qualifying for the round of 16 was compromised.
Machado started and played 78 minutes. He was cautioned in the 42nd minute and came out to give way to Massadio Haidara. His game was acceptable, despite Lens’ defeat.
Arsenal is the leader of group B with 9 points (+6); PSV (-3) and Lens (0) have 5 points; while Seville is last with 2 units.
On November 29, Lens will face Arsenal in London, and will close their participation in the group stage on December 12, at home against Sevilla.
