Fall is Free

It is officially October which means “spooky season” is upon us. As high schoolers we don’t have a lot of money to spend on frivolous things, but we still want join in on the fun fall festivities. The following are some free and inexpensive ways to “leaf” those autumn melancholies behind.

A very obvious, and traditional, thing to do in the fall is to go to the pumpkin patch. Take your family or friends, and go pick a pumpkin or two; take them home to carve, paint or even decorate your house. Pumpkin patches are a great way to have fun and save money in the fall as they are fairly inexpensive.

Although this next one sounds like it’s more for children, making a leaf pile and jumping in can make for a great insta-worthy feed, and you may even have fun falling back into some of those childhood habits, not to mention this is completely free.

Another free option for entertainment this fall is taking a walk in nature. Soak up all of those autumn colors and maybe find a cool looking leaf along the way. Just get out and appreciate the last bits of nice weather before the long winter starts.

If you are in the mood for a scare, you can have a scary movie night at your house free of charge, or you could visit a haunted house. Although not all haunted houses are inexpensive, maybe save some money or do some research to figure out which one is the cheapest and go there.

For all those sports fans out there, another great option this fall is going to a football game, or even playing football. Breaking a sweat on the field or in the backyard, or trying to keep warm while losing your voice cheering in the bleachers is a great way to spend your weekends.

One more must-have on your fall bucket-list for cheap or free things to do this fall is to host or go to a bonfire. Roasting marshmallows, telling ghost stories or just sitting around the roaring flames enjoying the company of those you love can leave you with memories that you will cherish forever. That is truly priceless.

Even though there are hundreds of more things to do this fall, these are just a few great options you can do for little to no money.
