Fun lemonade drinks for summer

Watermelon Lemonade

Everyone has their own favorite kind of fun drink for summer, but what if those drinks  could go from that plain Jane drink into a fun fancy one? There are lots of different ways to decorate drinks; adding fruit to it finding cute little umbrellas to give it a more tropical look and even putting it in an enticing frosted glass. These are all valid options which can spice up drinking experiences.

Summer drinks:

  • Watermelon Lemonade
  • Strawberry Lemonade
  • Tropical Lemonade
  • Frozen Lemonade


  • 1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (from about 12 lemons)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 6 cups water
  • 2 6-ounce cans pineapple juice
  • 1 12-ounce can apricot nectar
  • 2 12-ounce cans ginger ale
  • lemon slices (to garnish)
  • ice

*Place the lemon juice, the sugar, and 1 cup water in a large pitcher. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then add 5 more cups water, the pineapple juice, the apricot nectar, the ginger ale, a few slices of lemon to garnish, and plenty of ice.


  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 cups cubed watermelon
  • 3 cups cold water
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 6 cups ice cubes

*Place the watermelon into a blender. Cover, and puree until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh sieve. Bring sugar and 1/2 cup water to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat until sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in 3 cups of cold water and the lemon juice. Divide the ice into 12 glasses, and scoop 2 to 3 tablespoons of watermelon puree over the ice, then top with the lemonade. Gently stir before serving.*



  • 3 cups water (divided)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 5 to 6 lemons)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest (optional)
  • 5 cups ice
  • 1 lemon, sliced (garnish)
  • maraschino cherries (garnish)

*Make simple syrup by heating 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar in medium saucepan. Bring to a boil. Cook until sugar is completely dissolved. Cool completely. Blend 2 cups water, simple syrup, lemon juice, lemon zest (if desired) and ice in quality blender. Garnish with lemon slices and a cherry, if desired. Serve immediately.*
