No boyfriend? No problem.

If you’re starting to feel a mixture of dreadful feelings creeping in this Valentine’s Day, just know you’re not the only one. For many of us single ladies (or gentlemen), Valentine’s Day is nothing but an annoying holiday to remind us just how, well, single we are. So instead of feeling like puking every time you refresh your Instagram feed, or finding yourself wrapped up in  a fuzzy blanket binge watching unrealistic chick flicks, I have a happier alternative. This year consider planning a “Galentines” party,  you and all of your girlfriends to get together and forget the boys (sorry to all the boyfriends out there). To get your Galentine’s Day party rolling you will need a few essential things: snacks, decorations, music and activities.

Snacks:

What’s better than breakfast foods? Nothing is better than breakfast foods, duh. So why not have a waffle bar complete with whip cream, chocolate chips, fresh fruit, and syrup. If for some odd reason you are not a breakfast food person, you can never go wrong with desserts. Make some chocolate covered strawberries, mini cheesecake, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, or even an ice cream sundae bar.

Decorations:

Decorations can be as simple as some pink or red cups, plates, and napkins. You can also get a little crafty and  get some colored tissue paper to make pom poms, or buy some construction paper and cut out little hearts to string together. Splurging a little and buying some fresh bouquet of flowers for centerpieces can also be a elegant way to vamp up your party. There is absolutely no pressure in going big with the decor, your girls won’t judge.

Music:

Spend some time before hand putting together an upbeat playlist! Pay attention to the songs and try to play songs that are happy and not emotional whatsoever, we don’t want uncontrollable sobbing at your Galentine’s Day party. Pull out some female artist such as Beyonce, Gwen Stefani, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, or Christina Aguilera. Having a hard time thinking of some songs? Pinterest is loaded with awesome playlist ideas.

Activities:

You’re going to need some activities to keep you and your girls entertained throughout the night. You can never go wrong with a spa themed night! Spend some time gossiping and bonding all while lying around in facials and wet nails. If you’re wanting to change it up a bit, you can always go with a game night. Whether that’s minute to win it games or board/card games, this is a perfect way to let loose and bring out competitive sides.
