Boys defend home course at Kearney High invite

The Kearney High Boys Cross Country team hosted the Kearney High Invite on Friday, September 8th at Meadowlark Hills Golf Course. Junior Jack McFadden was the leading team runner finishing 4th, posting a time of 17:38.68. McFadden was followed closely behind by fellow junior Josh Sutton, who finished 5th with a time of 17:39.89.

Seniors John Brockmeier and Dallyn Ritchie were also a major contributors with Brockmeier finishing 6th with a time of 17:47.58 and Ritchie finishing 13th with a time of 18:22.61. Juniors Austin Soucie and Nolan Bennett both finished in the top 20 with Soucie finishing in 15th with a time of 18:35.65 and Bennett finishing 18th with a time of 18:42.68. Senior Max Swails rounded out the team top seven finishing 20th posting a time of 18:53.80.

Kearney High finished 1st out of 6 teams that included Lincoln High in 2nd and Lexington in 3rd. Overall, the team did very well having five runners in the top fifteen. The team’s next invite will be the Lincoln High Invitational. The invite will take place on Thursday, September 14th at Pioneer Park with JV starting things off at 3:30 and varsity to follow them at 5:00 P.M.
