KHS Pops Choir has been working and preparing their five-song show choir set since the beginning of the school year. They competed at two competitions in early February. The first, on Fri., Feb. 5, was in Central City at the Nebraska Choral Directors Association (NCDA) contest. After competing against multiple Grand Island show choirs, Pops placed third and received one of the three gold awards given at the event. Then, on Thurs., Feb. 11, they competed in Omaha at the University of Nebraska-Omaha (UNO) competition. It was a great end to the season with their final performance of their show. Pops received fourth place out of eight other AA schools and brought home another trophy. Some favorite songs from the show include, “Love Runs Out” by One Republic and “1650 Broadway,” a fun mash-up of famous songs that appear in the new musical “Beautiful.” Director Mr. Moyer said, “Pops performed very well this year and we were able to create some very beautiful moments on stage. Our singing was consistently strong throughout the season. I am very proud of the student leadership within the ensemble; their contribution was significant.” Pops is excited to start up next year with the help of the brand new auditorium at the new KHS building.
