The girls track team placed third in the A1 District meet last Wed., May 14 in Kearney. They scored 75.5 points, only 15.5 points behind Omaha Central’s second place. The top four placings in each event qualified for the state meet that will be held this Friday and Saturday.
Sophomore Macie Wicht placed 1st in the triple jump at districts with a jump of 36’ 9.75” and will be competing in the state meet. Junior Steph Weides and freshman Hadley Knaggs both qualified for state in pole vault. Weides also placed 1st in her event with a height of 11’ 7”. Knaggs placed 4th with a height of 9’ 11”. Senior Abby Ray qualified for state in both the shot put and discuss. She placed 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 38’6” and 3rd in the discus with a throw of 110’02”.
In the 100 meter hurdles, sophomore Nicole vonAschwege placed 4th with a time of 16.16 that will take her to compete in the state meet. Junior Lacie Lindner qualified for state in two events at Districts. She competed in the 800 meter run and the 4×4 team. Lindner placed 2nd in the 800, less than three seconds behind Grand Island’s 1st place runner. The 4×4 relay team ran a time of 4:11.46 and consisted of freshman Emma Rohde, sophomores Lauren Speicher and Katie Johnson and Lacie Linder, which will run at state this weekend. Placing 3rd in the mile run was freshman Tori Lindner and also placing 3rd in the 3200 meter race was senior Delaney McFadden.
These eleven girls will compete this Friday and Saturday, May 23 and 24, at the Nebraska State Track meet.
