Over the past decade, smartphones have become wildly popular. With this new technology, opportunities for game makers have grown significantly. The latest trending game is Flappy Bird. This is a difficult game that becomes immediately addicting to new users. On Feb. 9, the creator of Flappy Bird, Dong Nguyen, removed his game popular from the app store. There was a lot of speculation that the game was deleted due to lawsuits initiated by Nintendo claiming that the design of Flappy Bird was copied from Mario games. However, Nguyen announced that he took it down only because of the highly addictive nature of the game. Kearney High Junior Jacob Elliott commented, “I think taking down Flappy Bird was a good choice.  It’s a pointless game that people spend endless amounts of time on.” Nguyen plans on making more games in the future, but will do his best to make them less difficult.
